We picked up the Key Lime Rapid Seltzer by Versus with mixed feelings and don’t think that changed after trying it.

Opening the can was an adventure. The pictures on the side were not clear in their directions, and the whole thing was made a little more tricky because the sticker was placed directly on top of small plastic doohickey used to open it.

Having taken another look at the can, I saw there were directions etched into the top that were not very visible. But they were more helpful.

To open it, you need to pop one side of the plastic top, then slide it over to reveal the drinking hole.

The Versus Key Lime Rapid Seltzer is tricky to open.

Versus is a brand from The Valens Company. The drinks are “powered by SōRSE,” the Kelowna company’s proprietary edible tech they say is free from cannabis odour, flavour, and colour. The first two were correct; however, we found this seltzer had a cloudy dishwater look. It wasn’t visually appealing to pour your drink into a glass, which I found was preferable because the sticker got wet and in the way as I was drinking.

The drink has positive qualities. The sharp lime flavour is refreshing and tasty, with a hint of sweetness. There are only two grams of added sugar and at total 10 calories for the whole can. It’s a great drink if you are looking for a lighter option.

The name, Rapid Seltzer, is on point—as I was definitely feeling the buzz before getting to the end of the can.

I found it to have a very chill and sleepy feel, but it was the end of a long day and I have typically found that the high you need is the high you get.

Overall, I would say this drink might very well end up in our fridge again but I don’t think it would be my first choice.
