A Kelowna extraction company that took a hit on a hemp deal gone bad is getting back on its feet.

EnCann Solutions has received its Standard Processing licence, which allows the company to process bulk hemp and cannabis to create and sell derivative products.

“We look forward to commissioning and operationalizing our industrial-scale extraction system and bringing cost-effective high purity commodity cannabinoid ingredients to the market,” says Lincoln Johnson, CEO/CTO of EnCann.

“We are prepared to withstand substantial wholesale and retail price compression and look forward to showing the world what a well-engineered extraction system can do. Our system allows excessively efficient production of high-purity APIs and ingredients for CPG products from dried or field-fresh wet biomass.”

It’s an important milestone for the company after a challenging start.

The company could barely keep the lights on after a fell through for tons of high-CBD hemp. It won an arbitration case against Abbotsford-based BC Hop Company Ltd., with a decision that found the hemp company breached its 2018 contract for the purchase and sale of 10 metric tonnes of industrial hemp.
